Introduction
As Head of Operations for MENA & APAC, Raju Koirala is responsible for developing Ferroman’s presence across some of the world’s fastest-growing industrial regions. From his base in Abu Dhabi, he works closely with customers and partners across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, combining technical knowledge with a strong focus on practical industrial solutions.
With a background as an electrical engineer and more than 25 years of experience in sales, projects and industrial development, Raju brings together technical understanding and a strong customer-oriented approach.
From Electrical Engineer to Industrial Business Builder
Raju’s roots are in Nepal, but he was born and grew up in India, where he now lives with his family. At the same time, he travels frequently, having built an international career within the process industry that spans multiple countries and cultures.
By training, he is an electrical engineer and began his career in technical roles before moving into sales and project development in 2009.
“My passion has always been to work closely with customers and deliver value-added solutions.”
This combination of technical expertise and commercial drive continues to shape his work today.
Building Ferroman in MENA & APAC
At Ferroman, Raju leads operations across the MENA and APAC regions with responsibility for business development, project delivery and long-term expansion.
A key part of his role is developing the Abu Dhabi operation as a strong regional hub.
“We are building Abu Dhabi as a start-up operation for Ferroman in MENA and APAC.
It is an exciting journey where we are building both the team and the market step by step.”
At the same time, Ferroman’s long industrial history provides a strong foundation, with more than 35 years of experience in the industry.
His responsibilities span regional sales and marketing, project delivery together with the local team, partner development across India, Korea and China, as well as overall responsibility for profitability and performance.
A Region Full of Opportunity
Raju sees strong long-term opportunities for Ferroman in both MENA and APAC.
“These are very promising markets, but we must focus on the must-win cases where Ferroman can deliver real value.”
Key industries include oil and gas, steel and process industries, hydrogen and energy transition, electrification, and food and beverage.
In MENA, large-scale industrial projects and relationship-based business culture play an important role. At the same time, energy transition initiatives are becoming increasingly important alongside traditional hydrocarbon industries.
APAC, on the other hand, is characterized by rapid industrial growth and strong manufacturing capabilities.
The Future of Industry
Looking ahead, Raju sees several major trends shaping the future of the steel and process industries.
“Decarbonization and sustainability are the most transformational trends.
Electrification of industrial heat is the technical backbone of decarbonization.”
He also points to developments already affecting customers today, including digitalization and AI-driven optimization, energy efficiency improvements, supply chain localization and electrification of industrial processes.
Goals for Ferroman
Raju’s ambition is to build a stable and long-term Ferroman presence across the region.
“We want to deliver value-added optimization solutions that improve operating costs, maintenance and energy efficiency.”
This includes electrification solutions, energy optimization, hydrogen as a fuel and OPEX optimization.
The Person Behind the Role
Outside work, Raju describes himself as someone who values discipline and teamwork.
His day often starts early with exercise, something he sees as important both physically and mentally.
